Carole and I have spent most of our lives with animals. Over the years we have acquired some knowledge and ability to help rescues recover and move on to new lives. Some suffer from birth defects or accidents and others from abuse by people or lack of knowledge on how to care for them. Many are just unwanted births. Most of these critters just need time and understanding, good food and medical care to be wonderful and useful companions again. Helping out another sanctuary with big cats and exotic birds showed me how much need there was for intervention. Carole got involved watching horses, still in good shape and with years of good life ahead, being shipped for meat. As a Standardbred person, it broke her heart to see this. She has rescued many a horse and sent it on to become someones beloved trail horse.
